Robert G. Grau
Robert G. Grau, 68, of Hellertown, died Monday, November 7, 2011 at his residence after a 3 year battle with cancer. Born in Philadelphia, PA on April 16, 1943 to the late Elizabeth (Sheehan) and Theodore Grau, at the age of six months he moved with his parents to Trevose, PA. He graduated from Bensalem High School in 1961. He joined the U.S. Navy and attended Aviation Electronics A School at NATTC Memphis. Afterwards he was assigned to Patrol Squadron 17 at NAS Whidbey Island, Washington and then attended Aviation Electronics B School at NATTC Memphis. He was assigned to Patrol Squadron 56 as an Airborne Radio Operator at NAS Norfolk, Virginia and completed his naval service at NATTC Memphis as an instructor. He started his career in radio engineering at WFN, Jeffersonville, IN a ship to shore station. He then went into broadcasting engineering at WAVE-TV in Louisville, KY. From there he worked at various stations, WTCG-TV, Atlanta, GA; WTVZ-TV, New Bedford, MA; WLKY-TV Louisville, KY; WCAU-TV, Philadelphia, PA and WCBS-TV, New York, NY. He then worked at Hampton University in Hampton, VA, where he retiring in 2003 after 20 years of service. He worked for Giant Food Store in Hellertown for 7 years as a deli clerk. Memberships: Bob was a Past Master of Clark Lodge #40 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was also a member of Norfolk Lodge #1 in Norfolk, Virginia. He was a member of Mountainview Moravian Church in Hellertown.
Survivors: Bob is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Eileen N. (Rogers), two daughters, Heather Harris of Indiana, Gwen Burr of Georgia; two step daughters, Charlene Brauer of Levittown, Sharon Carney of Quakertown; 10 Grandchildren; one sister, June Patterson of NJ and two brothers, Eugene Grau of NJ and Theodore Grau of Yardley.
Services: Celebration of his life service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2011. Call 10 to 11 a.m. at Mountainview Moravian Church, 331 Constitution Avenue, Hellertown, PA.
