Robert W. Smicker

Robert "Bob" W. Smicker, 87, of Allentown, passed on March 28, 2021, at Cedarbrook Nursing Home, Allentown. Born in Allentown, Bob was the son of the late Samuel Z. Smicker and Helen T. (Mott) Smicker. He was a lifelong member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Allentown, where he served as an altar boy in his youth. Bob graduated from Allentown Central Catholic High School in 1952. Upon being drafted in 1954, Bob proudly served his country in the U. S. Army as a radio operator and instructor. For over 35 years, he was employed at Tarkett, Inc., Whitehall, retiring in the 1990s. Throughout his life, Bob enjoyed photography, golf and, especially, bowling. He was a member of numerous local bowling leagues and received many awards.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Dolores Hartman and Lucille Ziegenfuss, and brothers, Raymond Smicker, William Smicker and Roland Smicker. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Bob was known as someone who, unconditionally and without hesitation, gave of his time to help family, friends and neighbors. His loved ones will continue to honor his legacy by serving others in that same way.
