Robert Van Duzer Obituary

Robert F. "Bob" Van Duzer, Jr. passed away on December 21st, 2017, after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease. He was the husband of Mary Alice (Quigney) Van Duzer for 48 years this past August. Born in Summit, NJ, he was the son of the late Robert F. Van Duzer, Sr. and Edith S. (Walters) Van Duzer. A long-time resident of Allentown, Bob was originally from Madison, NJ where he was valedictorian of the Madison High School Class of 1958. He was a member of the Princeton University Class of 1962 and a graduate of Florida State University in 1965. After serving in the Marine Corps, Bob moved to New York City where he joined the accounting firm of Price Waterhouse and Company. He subsequently moved to Miami and joined Coulter Electronics in Hialeah, FL, as the General Accounting Manager before joining Burger King Corporation as the Director of Internal Auditing. In 1975, Bob and his wife, Mary Alice Quigney, decided to move to Mary's hometown of Allentown to "put down roots" and start a family. During a 35-year career as a fast-food franchisee, Bob opened a video store business and became a Certified Financial Planner, a Certified Valuation Analyst, and at 65 he received a Juris Doctorate from Widener School of Law. Bob worked as a paralegal until the end of his life. Until Parkinson's Disease limited his mobility, Bob enjoyed playing tennis year-round with his longtime friend and business associate, Bob Rust. He will be fondly remembered and missed deeply. Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Mary, a son, Lt. Col. Robert F. Van Duzer, III and fiancée Sally Rio and son Mason; a daughter, Leigh Kathryn Van Duzer and husband James, and a grandson, Arthur Peter Spotto; nieces, Kristin, Lisa, and Alison; nephews, James, Kevin and Bryan; great nephew Dylan; and great nieces, Faline and Emily. He was predeceased by a sister, Vicki. Services: There will be no services at this time. Arrangements by Keller Funeral Homes, Inc., Fogelsville. Bob and I were in the Marine Corps and were friends and spent time on leave at Siesta Key at his mom and dad's house. Sorry to hear bob was ill and passed! I am also sorry we could not have been closer later in life!

Robert was my uncle, his sister Vickie my mom, and a good uncle he was. Growing up he and I were very close spending a lot of time together in Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Florida. Very unfortunately we went separate ways later in life only exchanging Christmas cards through the years. He did call me shortly before he passed and we had a good long talk. I got the news from my brother Brian that he had passed away as he got it from my Aunt Mary, Roberts wife. Uncle Bob may you rest in peace and I'll see you again in heaven. We'll make up for lost time! Aunt Mary, all the best to you and I'm sorry.

My condolences to Mary, Rob, and family. Bob was not only a boss, but a true mentor that taught so many people great things. He was such a hard, devoted worker. Thank you for all you've taught me Bob.

My condolences to the Van Duzer family. Bob and Vicki were my cousins, and we spent a lot of 'Madison' time together. Their mother Edith was my aunt. I will remember them fondly in my remaining years and am glad to have my other cousins, Bob and Mary's children and grandchildren, in my Facebook life.
