Robert A. "Bobby" Whitehead, 73, of Allentown, passed away on Wednesday May 8, 2019. Bobby was the husband of Maureen (O'Donnell) Whitehead and they celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary this past October. Born on October 2, 1945, he was a son of the late Edward D. and Anna G. (La Carro) Whitehead Sr. Bobby was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Allentown where he sang on the choir for the past 41 years. He proudly served his country as a SP4 in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Bobby was a candy maker for Just Born Candies in Bethlehem, and earlier in his career he worked for many years at the former Exide Battery Company in Allentown. In his youth he played fast pitch softball for teams at the Morning Call, and the Patriots, finally retiring in 1980. He loved to fish, was an Eagles fan, but mostly he was a lifelong Yankee fan, especially following #7 Mickey. Bobby was known for his hot dogs which he served with his famous homemade chili sauce. PopPop will be lovingly missed by his grandchildren, and everyone else who had the pleasure and privilege of knowing him. Surviving with his wife Maureen are his daughters; Dr. Kathryn Whitehead wife of Eric Deguns and their daughter Jenna, Colleen Bauer (Derek Vattelana) and her children; Elizabeth, Emma, and Matthew, and Christine wife of Erik Litsch and their son Henry. Bobby's brother is Edward D. (Linda) Whitehead Jr., and sisters; Shirley Maxsim, Carol De Grenier, and his twin sister Roberta Groh. There are numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday May 14, 2019 at 10:00 am in Our Lady Help of Christians. Calling hours will be Monday evening from 6:00-8:30 pm and on Tuesday morning from 8:30-9:30 in the O'Donnell Funeral Home, Allentown. Maureen, Katie, Colleen, Christine and families - Wally and I send our sincere condolences and loving hugs to all of you. We only had the privilege of meeting Bobby at the time of Katie and Eric's wedding. His infectious smile is the first thing I recall. Take comfort in the love he freely shared with family and friends and know he is always with you.

Maureen & Family- so very sorry for the loss of Bobby. Always made me laugh. You now how a guardian angel watching over you. I'll always remember Bob's dogs from the yearly yard sale, and all the school & church events at OLHC. Rest easy, Bobby.

Maureen,Christine,Colleen and
Katie,
I'm so sad and heartbroken, I can barely find words to say how sorry for your family and his siblings I am.
One of the best things I ever did was introducing you to Bobby. It was a perfect match. A match made in heaven, like Jon and me,
Jon and Bobby knew each other from when they were children. Bobby sang Did you ever know you were my hero to Jon after Jon had surgery.
He also sang at Jon's funeral. I was so great full for that.
We last spoke on the phone two weeks ago. He always praised you Maureen, and the girls and grandchildren. He always mentioned that he could always hear Jon's laugh.
Old friend I'll miss you and your kindness. Walk those streets of gold and sing to Jon again.
God bless.

Dear Maureen and family,

Bobby and I grew up together. We played stickball in the alley behind his house, we fished in the Lehigh, we rode to school together. He was a wonderful friend. My condolences for your loss. We will all miss him.

Maureen, my deepest condolences are with you and with the daughters and grands so lovingly mentioned in the obituary and messages from others.

I am sorry that I never got to meet Bobby. But knowing you from way back, I am sure you selected the best of the best, and spent your 41 years together as true partners and friends.

This hurts, I'm so sorry Maureen and all of your family. May God give you all the strength to get through your loss. I know it's huge.
Often times when I've been confronted with a situation in my life over which I had no control I'd remember something I've heard Bobby say many times. I will say it as long as I live, "What're you gonna do?".
R.I.P. kind Sir. You are missed.

Bobby was a loving husband to Maureen, a proud father of his beautiful daughters and vivacious grandchildren, and the most thoughtful man. Bobby and Maureen were the model of a martial love affair as they took care of each other and thinking first of their partner. He beamed whenever he spoke of his girls' accomplished careers and loved caring and showing off their children. Whenever I visited, Bobby offered me a meal and I too was a fan of his chili dogs.
I will miss you, Bobby!
My sincere condolences and prayèrs at with his family and friends.

Bobby was such a loving husband to Maureen, a proud dad of his beautiful daughters, and a generous thoughtful man. As a couple, Maureen and Bobby are the best example of a martial love affair always taking care of the other first. He always beamed as he spoke of his girls' accomplished careers and loved caring for their children. Bobby always asked if there was anything he could feed me, and I loved his chili dogs, no matter what time of day I visited his impeccably well-kept home, especially his lawn. I'll miss you Bobby!

My condolences and prayers are with all!
