My sincere condolences to the family and relatives of Bob Zentz. Bob and I met in the early 1970s. At the time and a little earlier, I work for the JC Rex Thoracic Group, wanting to initiate the first open-heart surgery program in the Lehigh Valley.

Bob and I had a couple of things in common as we were both men and we were both registered nurses, possibly the only male registered nurses in the Lehigh Valley at that time.

Sacred Heart Hospital was our steppingstone as they allowed us to do experimental open-heart surgery in a building behind the hospital. Occasionally he would stop in and we would chat for a while.

Unfortunately for Sacred Heart hospital, the open-heart program was initiated at Allentown General Hospital a couple of years later. George Gemberling (USN-USAF RET 24 year veteran Mustang) [email protected]
