Roberta Stark Obituary

Roberta A. Stark
Roberta A. Stark passed away peacefully at home on June 1. She was born on April 15, 1928 in Forest City, Iowa, daughter of the late Elmer F. and Marion (Arnold) Rankin. Roberta grew up on the family farm near Manson, Iowa, graduating from Manson High School as valedictorian in 1945. She attended the University of Iowa, graduating in 1949 with a bachelors degree in English. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and Phi Beta Kappa. She married Joseph A. Stark in 1953 in Mt. Vernon, N.Y. They lived in Whitehall, from 1959 until 1997. Roberta worked at home raising four children, while Joseph worked as an engineer at Mack Trucks Inc. Joseph passed away in 1998. Roberta resided in Wilmington for the last 11 years with her son, Stephen, daughter-in-law, Susie and three grandchildren, Thomas, Tara and Bethany. She is also survived by a son, Frederick of Chicago and a daughter, Nancy of Boston. In addition to her husband, her youngest son, Thomas William Stark, preceded her in death. Roberta will be sadly missed by her best friend, Dottie Avallone, who lovingly helped care for her, enjoyed watching game shows and often discussed politics with her. The family also extends our deepest gratitude to the staff of Bayada Nurses for their years of attentive care and wonderful support, especially Donna Curtis. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 618 Fullerton Ave., Whitehall, 18052 on Saturday, June 7 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Friends and family may visit in the church prior to Mass, starting at 9:30 a.m. Arrangements, ODonnell Funeral Home, Allentown.
