Sally Hendricks Obituary

Sally A. Hendricks, 77 of Emmaus, formerly of Zionsville, died Monday January 21, 2019 at St Luke's Hospice House. She was the wife of the late David O. Hendricks, who died March 1, 2016. Born in Allentown on June 18, 1941 , she was the daughter of the late Bernadine (Rice) and Nelson Bruder. Sally had a love for all animals. She raised and bred Great Danes for many years. She also raised and showed quarter horses alongside of her husband David, who formerly owned Hendricks and Sons Auto Center of Emmaus, until he retired and handed the reigns over to their two sons, Hunter and Daniel. Sally was a caring midwife to a small hers of beef cows along with her husband David and son in law , William with HP Cattle Co. She wasn't afraid of hard work and went out many of nights with her flashlight checking on pregnant mommies and babies. She loved having her nail done and always walked into Artisans Salon and Day Spa with a smile. But Sally's true passion was gardening and she was happiest digging in her flower beds. She raised orchids and at one time had o150 in her home. She worked at Dan Schantz Greenhouse for many years and loved helping customers with their gardening needs. She loved Mario Lanza since she was a teenager and often wondered if anyone would ever top him in the next century. The other loves of her life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always so excited for a new baby to arrive and she was blessed to have her sixth great grandchild born days before her passing. Sally was loved and will be missed deeply but her memories will live on. Sally is survived by two daughters, Robin, wife of Kevin Balliet of Emmaus. Kelly, wife of William Pearsall of Emmaus. Two sons, Hunter, husband of RuthAnn Hendricks of Emmaus and Daniel D. Hendricks of Emmaus. Sally is also survived by two sisters, Linda Carter and Judy Kominsky and a brother Lee Bruder. My heart is heavy and filled with sadness, but also filled with joy. Knowing Sallyann for her witt,Sweet nature but yet her tough lady presence, shipping me into shape with her relationship advice and sharing so many gardening stories to share, I will miss her even more. We have had many laughs throughout our Dan Schantz Shade house working family and for that I'm grateful. My deepest condolences to her family and the people that were touched by her

My heart is heavy with sadness but, also filled with joy.Working with sally Ann at DS.. will never be forgotten. A dull moment? NEVER!!! We always shared laughter, lots of gossip and of coarse worldly " Man " advise. Loved talking garden as she we say. She will be missed.

Over the years, teaching me the love of gardening at Dan Schantz we grew to be a second family. I love Sallyanne for her passion and her wit and most of all her caring heart. I will cherish thoughts of the many laughs we shared as I watch my orchids bloom. With a heavy heart and much sympathy to the Hendricks family, Marie Yocum
