Memories and Condolences
for Scott Hess

Not sure what to say?

November 7, 2012

Mr. and Mrs. Hess,
I was so sorry to hear about your loss. I remember when I was Scott's aide at school. He was always so happy and smiling all the time.
I remember how he always talked about trucks and tractors he sure did like them both. I am sorry I didn't get to know him as a young man.I am sure he was a pleasure to be around.
I have a lot of memories of him while I was his aide. I remember I told him I liked to collect tree ornaments and one year for Christmas he gave me a red cardinal and I put it on my tree every year. When I put it on the tree I always think of him and how he would always kid around with me and make me laugh.
He will be missed by those whose lives he touched during his short life. I know he touched mine and I will always remember him.
At times like this may you take comfort in knowing that he is not suffering anymore and while he was here he left his mark on a lot of people.

Mr. and Mrs. Hess,

I was saddened to learn of Scott's passing. You have my heartfelt sympathy. I was a nurse at Good Shepherd and talked with you on different occasions. You may remember that my aunt was your neighbor.

Scott was such a sweet, gentle boy who I enjoyed taking care of. He would always give me a shy little smile and I knew he appreciated what I was doing for him. It is those little things that can mean so much as nurses go about their work.

You were truly remarkable in doing what you did to make his quality of life as much as it could be. You were there for him every day and added so many personal touches to his room. I remember the Christmas tree with all of his special ornaments and the cute sheet sets and other things he liked that you would bring in. You were there for him as much as you could be....and he knew he was loved.

I am so sorry for your loss. I hope by writing this you find some comfort in knowing how much your son did touch the lives of others, as can be seen in many of these entries. May God give you strength and peace to get through this difficult time.

My deepest sympathy to you and your family,

November 4, 2012

Hess Family,

My condolences to all of you. I also have many fond memories of Scott and the time he spent at Camelot House. All of us will remember that big smile but my fondest memory of him was at the dunk tank at summer camp. How he loved to drop someone down into the water. I remember so well how he laughed and laughed. He indeed was a special young man. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.

Dear Diane and family,
I would like to join the others in offering my sincere condolences at this difficult time. Although I have not seen him in a long time, I remember well seeing Scott in church and at Sacred Heart events. This may sound a bit odd from someone who didn't know him well, but when he would smile with that beautiful face that would light up, I used to feel I could see Jesus in it. I can't really explain that but I remember always thinking it to myself. I am so sorry for your loss and your family will be in my prayers.

He always brought a smile to my face, especially when he would tell me to "feel his muscles". Please know that he touched the lives of many. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Rich and Diane,
My heart aches for you both. Scott always gave me a huge, sweet smile whenever I entered his room. You could tell he had a heart of gold. He will always be my "tractor buddy" and I will think of him whenever there is a tractor pull. May the warm memories of Scott help you through this difficult time.
