Shapour Samii Obituary
Dr. Samii will fondly be remembered around the world by family, friends, and former students, as well as by his loving, devoted wife, Zarrin, who he was married to for over 40 years.
Leaving what could have been a bright military career in Iran, Dr. Samii came to the United States to pursue a path in academia, resulting in a distinguished career in higher education. Dr. Samii earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Center College, located in Danville, Kentucky, a master's degree from University of Wisconsin at Madison, Wisconsin, and his Ph.D. from Lehigh University. He began his tenure at Moravian University in 1963 as a professor of economics and was honored as a Professor Emeritus upon his retirement in 1989.
Dr. Samii was a member of Advent Moravian Church, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He enjoyed oil painting, traveling abroad, and was an avid fisherman.
A private burial service was held to honor Dr. Samii. Arrangements were entrusted to the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Student Scholarship Fund at Moravian University, 1200 Main Street, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, 18018, and should be directed to the attention of Lisa Bond, Director of Institutional Development.

I was a student of Dr Samii in 1983 at Moravian and a gentleman who had a big influence in my life.

I remember Dr. Samii as one my economics professors at Moravian in the early to mid 70s. may he rest in peace.
