Stanley Werley Obituary

Stanley W. "Stan" Werley, 75, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022, surrounded by family in his home. Stan was a warrior throughout his entire battle with prostate cancer, maintaining a positive approach to his treatments while thanking all the nurses and doctors for their help along his journey. Stan had a small community of family and friends that showered him with love and support in some way every day. Many wore bracelets in his honor with the words, 'Stan Strong-No One Fights Alone'. He was the husband of June Webre, who was the love of his life. Born in Allentown on October 15, 1946, he was the son of Osville C. and Lillian (Wertman) Werley. He was a graduate of Girard College, Philadelphia, where he served as student body president and cadet major of the drill team. Stan was an Air Force veteran and specialized in aerial reconnaissance and proudly was a member of the drill team, honor guard and burial team during his time in the service. He was a lifelong banker in the Lehigh Valley and served as AIB Lehigh Valley president for two years and an instructor for four years. Active in the community, he was involved on the boards and committees of Lehigh County Special Olympics, Lehigh County Drug and Alcohol, Wildlands Conservancy, Rotary Club, Lehigh Valley Boy Scouts of America, and Parkland Youth Association where he coached basketball and soccer. As an avid outdoorsman, he spent his life hunting and fishing both locally and out west and was a member of the Alburtis, North End, Guthsville and Petersville Rod and Gun clubs and Ontelaunee Gun Club. Stan became an avid Dallas Cowboys fan after watching Roger Staubach play in the Naval Academy versus Air Force football game. He enjoyed his lake house at Lake Wallenpaupack, spending time with family and friends, feeding his deer herd, bird watching and taking boat rides. He passed his love of the outdoors and nature onto many friends and family. Stan and his wife spent their years together travelling to the Caribbean Islands, Hawaii, and Mexico as well as annual trips to LBI or OCMD with the Downing family. Stan's pride of his life were his children and grandchildren. Stan's family thanks the St. Luke's Hospice team for their compassion and support guiding his wife and family while under their care in his home.

So, sorry to hear of a really good man, Stan Werley. His attitude and kind words toward everyone is enviable. I will always remember the banking I did with Stan back in the 70's at First National on 19th street. He was a consummate manager. Stan & June were a perfect match. So sorry for your loss, June

My deepest condolences to the Werley family. I knew Mr. Werley as the father of one of my best friends when we were growing up. My childhood years were full of great memories that were created at his house. Stan always seemed happy to see us. Every time we would see each other he would greet me with a big smile, a hug, and genuine interest in my life. As we got older, he was always supportive, kind, and willing to provide some fatherly advice. More recently, after my step-father passed, Stan stopped by at my mom's house with donuts and kind words to help lift my family in our time of need. That was Mr. Werley. He loved his family, extended family, and friends deeply. He will be missed!

June & Family...
Losing someone so dear is
devastating, and no words can ever really relieve that pain. But to help, I wish you courage and healing during these toughest of days. Cry when you feel like it. Let the laughter roll when it
comes. And know that Stan
will forever live on in the journeys you shared together.
Love,

Stanley,

We didn´t have the pleasure of knowing you, but we´ve come to know your son Todd pretty well.

Most Friday´s, he comes walking into our shop smiling and joking, always happy and quick to remind us that god always has a plan. Just knowing him we can see what kind of man and father you were, and how much you´ll truly be missed.

Todd and family, the world we know changed with Stan´s passing. He touched so many lives in a positive way, both professionally and personally. Always eager to say hi and unselfishly help in anyway. The world lost a great man but the good Lord has a great new angel by his side. He is now looking down at us all. We will miss Stan physically but he lives on. He will live in all our hearts forever .

Stan was so good to me growing up. I spent just about everyday with Todd when they lived at Jabber Lane. Stan built a regulation size goal post so Todd could practice his kicking and I my snapping. Yeah I know Todd WAS a kicker. Todd always spoke so highly of his dad. I know how much he loved Todd. I ran into Stan many times over the years and was always greeted with a huge smile and questions on how I was doing. He will be missed. My memories of him will live on. Lots of Love! -Bobby Ring

Mr. Werley, never called you Stan, I've known you since I first met Todd 30 years ago, kicking field goals in your front yard, playing Madden in the "play room," and snagging a couple brewskies from the garage on Jabber Lane. I don't think there was ever a time when I saw you without that big smile, well except that one time when you came home early from the Jordan AC and Todd had friends over, lol. There are so many fun memories that come to mind when I think about high school, and many of them involve football and how we always had the strongest support from our families and the best fans for football games... we shared the same birthday October 15th, both love the Cowboys, and recently we had a lot of conversations trying to help you find a house at the lake, shared fishing stories, and you will be missed by many. You always welcomed us into your home, and made us feel like part of your family. I'm glad I was able to trade some messages with you in the last month, and I hope you are now free from pain. I'll still think of you every Oct 15th, and I'll make sure your son always has a buddy to watch the Cowboys, and we'll give you a toast, hopefully we don't have to wait as long as the Eagles to win another Super Bowl. God Bless your family.

I am saddened to hear of Stan passing. My love and prayers to all his family.
Stan was my first bank supervisor and always encouraged me to reach higher. Over the years of my career with the bank I would still seek guidance from him and he was never too busy to provide me time and sound advice. Not too many like Stan. He was unique and just a wonderful man.
Thank you for helping me through the years. I thank you for your service and your sacrifice to keep our country free.

My fiancé is the brother of Stan´s daughter in law, Clarissa. We were blessed last year to have Stan and June buy the home next to us. My favorite memory of Stan is when our mini dachshund would sneak through the fence into Stan´s yard, we would end up having the best conversations. I´m also a banker and Stan would give me excellent advice and guidance. I will miss those talks but I´m blessed to have had them.

January 14, 2022

My fondest memory of Stan was at his beloved lake house in Lake Walenpaupack. I stayed the weekend with him, June, my sister and Todd. It was a weekend of laughing and pranks (Stan got us good with coyotes yipping on speakers) and fishing. Stan set up a fishing contest for the family which I won. He mentioned a prize and when we did our little ceremony, Stan gave me the best fishing rod I´ve ever had. I´ll never forget that weekend and I think it summed up who he was; a prankster, an adventurer, a storyteller, a gracious host and good gift giver. He was a true gentleman.

Dear June.
My deepest sympathies, my loving prayers to you and your family at this time. I'm so sad to read this about Stan.
Stan was my cheerleader back in the day at National Penn Bank. I never forgot the support I received from him. I have firsthand knowledge of how in love he was with you. I often told him how his face lit up when he knew you were on the phone ("June Bug") like a high school kid with a massive crush on the prettiest girl in school. I admired him for the man he was, never ashamed to show how much he loved you and adored his children and I admired him for the professional he was at the bank. First class all the way. He left his mark in the world. I hope your memories provide you peace. I am thankful that our paths crossed.

My Love and Prayers, Christine Lenci

Stan was a man that was well liked by many people around him. He was a kind person and I am glad I had the opportunity to know him.

Stan will be missed by many. Blessings to the entire family during this very difficult time.

Dear June,
I was an employee of bank for 34 years and knew Stan from main branch. I met you when Stan would come to our branch at Cedar Crest. Sad to read paper today and see Stan's smiling face. One of the nicest gentlemen on the planet. At one time our small First National Bank of Allentown was a "family" of wonderful people". We all knew each other and enjoyed working together. Stan was a mentor to all of us, especially the younger ones coming in. He was always smiling. We all bowled in the banks bowling league, too. FNB was a family. We all loved Stan. June, I extend my deepest sympathy to you, you had a great love for each other. Stan adored you and it was so sweet to see him smile when he talked of you. I am so sorry for your loss.
God Bless,
