Dottie and family,
I have some really great memories of your Dad! He was a mentor to me and many others in the fire company. Ed Little and I used to learn how to raise the rear of the truck to get snow chains on. We were just 16 or 17 at the time and knew everything!( or so we thought till Steve corrected us) Steve was like one of those school teachers you hope one of your kids might have the privilage of getting some day, one of those people who challenges beyond what you think you are capable of. He was that man to me.
I also remember the fine oak wood shelves he crafted for the Mack pumper to help the rust problem. I ended up photographing (go figure) the shelves, scott bottle rack and Steve for a fire magazine. He was quietly very proud to be recognized in the magazine.
I am blessed to have met and enjoyed the fellowship of Steve and his family. Your family will be in my prayers.

Carol & Family,

My heartfelt sympathy on the loss of your Dad. I know what you are going through. Here is a beautiful poem sent to me when my Mom passed earlier this month.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Donna, I have known you for a very short time and only professionally. However, I heard the compassion in your voice, as only a daughter and a nurse could have, when you talked about your Dad. Now is the time to let family and friends show you (and your family) compassion in their words and deeds. Peace be with you.

It doesn't seem all that long ago that Steve, Dick Jacobs and my Dad were playing with me on the fire trucks. It is fun to think back on that time and the memories that were created and shared. Although it is hard to say goodbye it is important to remember all the people that he has touched and the memories that we have. My deepest condolences to Dottie and the rest of the family.

Dear Rita,

I am so sorry for your loss. I know how close you were to your dad and I want to offer you my sympathy as you grieve this immense loss. Dottie and the rest of the family, you are all in my thoughts and prayers, too. God Bless you all.

I was lucky to have had the chance to meet Steve and spend some quality time with him. Whether it was in front of the tube dissecting sports, news or horrible reality shows or just enjoying a nature escape up in Masthope, I will always treasure those times in my life.

He was a giant of a man - in the supreme love and dedication that he showed for his family and friends, in the steadfast support of those who needed his firm yet gentle helping hand, in his quiet yet never demeaning certitude of what he believed to be in the best interest of those who were close to him, in his non-judgmental nature, in his willingness to sacrifice his own comfort for the benefit of others, in his infinitely sage wisdom, in his amazing abilities as a builder, inventor and innovator and as a selfless and true philanthropic pillar of the community in which he lived. He was all of those things and so much more. If there was ever anyone that we should all aspire to be like, it is Mr. Stephen Radokovitch.

I'll never forget how he accepted me and my children into his home and made us feel like we were part of the family. He was a generous soul who touched many and his legacy is going to endure for generations to come.
