Thomas Corrigan Obituary

Thomas L. Corrigan, 78, of 409 N. Ott St., Allentown, died May 1 in ManorCare Health Services/Liberty, Allentown. He was married to Helen E. (Petcavage) Corrigan for 52 years last May. A graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, he was vice president of advertising for the former Chrysler First, Allentown, before retiring in 1989. Previously, he was art director for Detroit (Mich.) Edison and Lukens Steel, Coatesville, Chester County. Born in Shenandoah, Schuylkill County, he was a son of the late Thomas L. and Mary (McGill) Corrigan. He was a member of Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena, Allentown. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division in the European theater. He received a Purple Heart medal with oak leaf cluster and a Bronze Star medal. He also served in France with the First French Army and received the French Croix de Guerre Fourragere award from the French government. Survivors: Wife; sons, Thomas of Wilmington, Del., John P. of Los Altos, Calif.; daughters, Helen Corrigan-Hoffman of New York City, Mary Young of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; sisters, Mary E. Sullivan of Shenandoah, Elizabeth Prestera of Woodbridge, Va.; seven grandchildren; nieces, nephews. Services: Mass, 2 p.m. Saturday in the cathedral. No calling hours. Graveside services, 10 a.m. May 20, Arlington (Va.) National Cemetery. No calling hours. Arrangements, Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville, Schuylkill County. Contributions: Mercy Special Learning Center, Allentown, or American Lung Association.
