Thomas D. Wasco
Thomas D. Wasco, 85 of Allentown, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010 in the Inpatient Hospice Unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. Born in Emmaus, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Silnik) Wasco. Thomas was the husband of Elsie A. (Strzalka) Wasco. The couple celebrated 63 years of marriage in November, 2009. Thomas served his country honorably in the Army during WWII. He served with the military police in the European Theatre of Operations, serving in Italy and Okinawa. He was a member of St. Pauls R.C. Church, Allentown. Thomas was a self-employed custom home builder for Wasco Homes and worked with his brother, Donald for 40 years until retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Emmaus Veterans Historical Society and a former member of the Builders and Contractors Union. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Elsie he is survived by a daughter, Ann Homiak and husband Bernie of Allentown; brother, Donald of Allentown; sisters, Shirley Balantinz and husband John of Breinigsville, Marlene Keiper and husband William of Freemansburg; grandson, Eric Tesche and wife Melissa; step grandson, Mark Homiak; great-grandchildren, Luke and Sara Tesche. Thomas was predeceased by sisters, Dorothy Schweikert, Geraldine Stoudt and Ethel Lynch. Services: Services to be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2010 in the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, Inc., 46 E. Susquehanna Street Allentown, PA 18103. A viewing will be held 9:30 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Emmaus. Contributions: Memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Pauls R.C. Church, 920 S. 2nd Street, Allentown, PA 18103 or the American Heart Association, 212 E. Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018.
