The mark of a true hero I will forever wear upon my heart, so that all show know the impact that one sacrifice has made on so many lives. I promise with every beat from within, I will never forget, nor shall I ever let it be forgotten, those you changed and the lives you saved. Soon enough we will meet again.

I did not know at the time I wrote this, just how much it really means. Today marks five years since Travis died in Iraq. Today is also the day that commemorates the death of my Lord Jesus Christ on the cross at Calvary. One died a hero and saved the life of the men who walked only steps behind him. One died a Savior and gave eternal life to all who believe on His name. Travis did not die in vain and neither did the Lord Jesus. The impact of these sacrifices is something I simply cannot fathom. I am forever greatful for Travis, and I will forever praise my Lord Jesus Christ. Thank God for Travis, and thank God for His Son. I believe that one day when Christ returns for all believers, I will be able to thank them both face to face. God bless you, Lloyd and Betty!

Please know that just as your loved one remains in your hearts and minds; his sacrifice, and that of your family, remains with the people he died defending. Travis was my Cousin, and I knew him but I didn't. When I was younger I always looked up to him, and I still do. Travis was a hero who gave his life for his country. Everyone misses him but life goes on, I'm sure he wouldn't want everyone to be sad and depressed about him. He deserved better...

Travis, I never got to know you. I'd met your dad and grandpop and was a friend to your uncle Russ. If heroism were a genetic trait your family's strong in it. Everyone comes into this world without guarantees. Some of us play it safe hoping some how it'll last longer. Other's risk everything to defend the values they know to be right. God bless you and your family.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers today.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Travis, but I am remembering on
this day he gave his all.
He is my hero.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Travis was one of my little brother's good friends, and I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. He was a sweet kid when I knew him best, around 7 years ago. His sister Jessica and I were in the same grade, and we used to compare notes on our little brothers. My condolences to his family and I know that he's smiling down on all of you.

Travis's Family,
I am so sorry about your loss. Travis was such a great friend and he was always there to cheer me up when I needed it. We had a few classes together when he was a senior, and there wasn't one day that he didn't tell me about how much he loved his dad and how it was so great spending time with him. The last time I got to talk to him was the night before he left for Iraq. Even though we talked for a while, he kept calling throughout the whole night while I was sleeping and I regret so much not being awake to talk to him more. I still listen to the message he left me that night. Your son is greatly missed no matter how much time has gone by. It is still so hard for me so I can only imagine how it is for you. Just remember he is always looking over us.

I did not know your son, but I am so sorry for your great loss and send my deepest sympathy. Your son sounds like a truly wonderful man and his service exceeding honor.

My eldest brother died at 19 (1968) and my second eldest brother at 34 (1984). Two weeks before my Mom passed away at age 69 (2000), my brothers came to her in a dream. She said they had grins on their faces like when they joked around with her when they were alive, and looked very happy. They stood before her and said, "Hey Mom! You're going to be with us soon!" She said she never dreamt of them before that day.

May you hope in the Lord.

I would like to send my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Pvt. Travis Zimmerman. One of my best friends, Pvt. Adison Tate(2/502 101st Airborne) called me from Iraq the day after Travis was killed. They were close friends. They met in reception Ft. Cambell and spent a great deal of time together from then until the time of his death. He thought the world of Travis, and considered him one of his best friends there. He felt the loss of Travis very much, and I was very sad to hear about it as well. I pray that God will comfort you in this time of loss.

To the family of Travis:

I know that you do not know me but i knew your son. I graduated with him last year. We were friends and I hung out with him with Nathan a couple of times but I knew him well. He always knew how to make anyone laugh that was having a bad day. He had a huge heart and would help anybody out if they needed anything. You have a wonderful son and you should be proud for raising such a caring and respectful young man. I remember when Nathan and Travis signed up for the army together they both came back and showed me their cards with their pictures on it. They were so excited about joining the army and all Travis talked about was serving his country. He is awesome. You couldnt have raised a better young man. Thank You for the chance to get to know him.

To the Family of Travis,

Please accept our condolences on the loss of your precious son Travis who was a true Hero in our eyes as well. As a mother of a son who also lost his life only six weeks ago in CO., I know the heartache, emotional pain, & anguish that the loss of a child can bring to us parents and other family members.

Many people cannot possibly understand the turmoil that we surviving parents go through every day; but we need to cry, talk it out, & unite with other parents in support groups or talk by phone or e-mail. Our sons & daughters are true heroes, serving our country & its citizens, in the war on terrorism to keep US safe. We pray that you will have peace & happy memories in your heart as we all try to get through each day, one day at a time. God bless you!

To Travis Zimmerman's family,

I did not know you son, but I, also, have a son named Travis, who is serving in the military and my heart and soul goes out to you, in the loss of you beloved. We do not acknowledge, often enough, the extreme sacrifice of our men and women in uniform and I just want to express to you how much my family appreciates the sacrifice of you loved one. It will not take away the sting of death, but I hope it will be of comfort to you, to know that others feel your pain and grief. We will hold your entire family up in our prayers and know that we understand your pain. We are a better nation, because of these fine young men and women. Please accept our sincerest and most heartfelt sympathies.

To the Family of Pvt. Travid C. Zimmerman:

My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son 12/1/05.

I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort. When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family.
