William J. Fister
William Bill J. Fister, 83, of Slatington, passed away November, 22, 2009, in the Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Marie H. Fister. Born in New Tripoli, he was the son of the late Edwin J. and Margaret (Howerter) Fister. Bill graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia with an Associates Degree. He worked for the Trojan Powder Co. in S. Whitehall Twp. for 40 years before retiring. Bill was a member of St. Johns UCC, Slatington where he was formerly a greeter, deacon, consistory member and a volunteer for the church Peach Festival. He served on the Slatington Borough Council for 2 terms and was Chairman of the Human Community Services committee, he was a life member of the Ontelaunee Rod & Gun Club, Grundsau Lodge #18 Charter member in Emerald and the Allen O. Delke Post #16 American Legion, Slatington. He was a Cpl in the Army during World War II. Survivors: Sons, William Bill Jr. and his wife Diane C. Fister of Slatington, David L. Fister of Allentown and Michael J. and his wife Barbara J. Fister of Catasauqua; grandchildren, Kevin W., Ryan J., Emily D., Sarah E. and Patricia M. Fister; sisters, Elanor Snyder Of New Tripoli, Alma and her husband Kenneth Koch of New Tripoli; sister-in-law Betty Fister of Topton; nieces; nephews. Bill was predeceased by his brothers, Paul, Ralph and George. Services: Wednesday, November 25, 2009, 10:00 a.m., Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St., Slatington.
