William Hutnik Obituary
Born July 7, 1948, in Easton, PA, he was a son of the late William "Wash" Hutnik and Margaret "Peg" V. (Knoble) Hutnik.
His wife and best friend of 50 years, Ruth J. (Lancaster) Hutnik, passed away March 31, 2021.
He graduated from Wilson High School Class of 1966. Bill served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War as a 2nd Class ABH. He also served in the Army National Guard as a Master Sergeant for over 35 years.
Bill was retired after over thirty years as a mail carrier from the United States Postal Service where he worked in both the Easton and Pen Argyl Post Offices.
He loved spending time with his family, especially his two granddaughters. Bill enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, camping, and tailgating at the New York Giants games in J8.
Bill was an active member of Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church where he was especially known for making pyrohy.
He was also a member of The Dream Mile Club where he started as warden and served on the board of directors and as Secretary. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Pope Pius XII Assembly, where he also served as Grand Knight for two years and was currently Director of the Home Association. In 2013 he was Knight of the Year of the Father DeNisco Council 3862.
Surviving are two sons, Aaron M. Hutnik and his wife Nichole, of Macungie and Daniel J. Hutnik, of Chicago; his beloved granddaughters, Emma and Brynn; a brother, Richard C. Hutnik and his wife Linda, of Nazareth and a sister, Terri L. Davis and her husband Ronald "Peanut", of Bethlehem; nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30am Friday in Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, 301 Fourth Street, West Easton. Calling hours will be Thursday 6-8pm in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 2101 Northampton Street, Wilson Borough. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Offer online condolences at www.strunkfh.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 30386, Philadelphia, PA 19103 www.cancer.org or to Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, c/o 315 Fourth Street, Easton, PA 18042.

When I transferred in to the Pen Argyle P O in 1985, Bill welcomed me and made me feel comfortable. It was all new to me and he helped me fit in. I will always remember him for his kindness to me.

My deepest heartfelt sympathy. Bill was a friend, as he was to many. As a mail carrier he was always looking out for his customers. If something didn't look right he'd investigate to ensure all was OK. One of a kind he'll be missed.
