Eleanor was born on November 14, 1925, in Cleveland to Philip and Agnes Yeckel (both deceased). She left this world peacefully on October 21, 2025 (just 3 weeks shy of her 100th birthday) at home. Eleanor's strong faith and selflessness were evident in a lifetime of devotion as a member of St. Mary Magdalene Parish since 1954.
Grandy lived a life rooted in love, faith, and simple joys. She was a proud mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and even great-great-grandmother. Each generation held close to her heart. Grandy was the glue of the family, the steady presence who never missed a life event or a single sporting game, always cheering from the sidelines with pride. She was the true definition of everyone's Grandma; warm, welcoming, and endlessly devoted. Her mornings began with coffee by the window, blinds opened to greet the day, and her afternoons often found her tending to her garden or baking something sweet to share. She found joy in punch rug crafting, embroidering, and playing rummy with Grammy Gail and the kids. Her home was a haven, lovingly kept and always filled with laughter, sweet treats, and the comforting scent of something fresh from the oven. She traveled with her beloved late husband, Paul, but her favorite journeys were the ones that brought her closer to family. Grandy had one rule: everyone had to make a happy plate.
Eleanor is the beloved wife of the late Paul Hutnik; loving mother of Gail Diane Hanna; cherished grandmother of Denise Marie Smith (Bill); proud great-grandmother of Gregory Paul Smith, Madeline Hanna Smith, Abigail Therese Smith; great-great grandmother of Emmett Lucas Smith; sister of Phil Yeckel.
