William Sharp Obituary

William H. Sharp III
William H. Sharp III, 75, of Allentown, died on August 5, 2009 in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg surrounded by his family and devoted partner, Rita M. Fafard. Born in Allentown on April 27, 1934, he was a son of the late Gordon D. Sr. and Frances J. (Knerr) Sharp. Bill graduated from Allentown High School in 1952 and later from Kutztown University in 1963 with a bachelors degree in education. Bill was a supervisor for training and development for PPL for 24 years, senior program supervisor for Bethlehem Steel Corp. for seven years and director of organizational development at Specialty Records, Clarks Summit, until retiring. After retiring, Bill drove school bus for Laidlaw. He was a consultant to the United Nations in Geneva Switzerland and enjoyed boating and fishing. Survivors: Sons: William H. Sharp IV and his wife, Joyce, of Smithfield, R.I. and Jon D. Sharp and his wife, Brenda, of Macungie; daughter, Deborah L. Crouthamel and her husband, Michael, of Merrimack, N.H.; eight grandchildren; former wife, Joanne Scarfo; brothers, Robert J. Sharp of St. Augustine, Florida and Richard Sharp of Coopersburg; nieces, nephews. Also survived by Ritas extended family, which includes one son, two daughters and Ritas four grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Gordon D. and Donald B. Sharp. Services: A calling time of remembrance will be on Sunday August 9, 2009 from 1-2:30 p.m. in the Sell-Herron Funeral Home, 1145 Lehigh Street, Allentown. Contributions: American Cancer Society, c/o the funeral home, 18103.

I am so sorry to hear about Uncle Bill: he has always been my favorite uncle. I'll never forget that he framed the crayon portrait I drew of him as a child and hung it on the wall:) Wish I could come pay my respects. I will keep the family in my prayers.
