William F. Sterner

Bill "Sonny," 82, of Bethlehem, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, February 3, 2019 while in the care of Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest. When Bill was a young man living in what was then known as the heights, he earned money to help his family by shining shoes, washing and waxing cars. When he got older he got a job with Wood Catering Services at Moravian College in the cafeteria. He worked there for approximately 30 years. Bill was a kind and gentle person. He made friends easily and was well known on the South Side of Bethlehem. The world was a better place with him in it. He will be greatly missed by friends and family. Rest easy Sonny, you deserve it. Bill was the son of the late William W. Sterner and Johanna K. Sterner. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters, Geraldine Sterner and her life partner, Betty Echgelmeiere of Phoenix, AZ, Dorothy Gimbar of Andres, PA and Mary Jane Cikovich of Allentown; brothers, Edward Sterner and his wife, Linda of Bethlehem, Richard Sterner of Bethlehem and Gary Sterner and his wife, Joann of El Cajon, CA and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the convience of the family. The Sterner family would like to thank the entire staff at Cedarbrook Allentown for the excellent care they provided for Bill. A more caring and professional group of people would be hard to find.
