William Widner Obituary
William L. Widner, 94 years and long time resident of Allentown, passed away peacefully under Hospice care on Sunday afternoon October 6, 2013 in the Lutheran Home at Topton. He was the husband of Hilda M. (Rosner) Widner, whom he shared 60 years of marriage at the time of her passing in 2001. Born in Allentown he was a son of the late Louis and Mary (Grosschadl) Widner. A dedicated member of Saint Pauls Catholic Church, Allentown, he honorably served in the US Navy during WWII. A skilled carpenter, Bill worked for Bracy Contracting for many years and was a life member of both the LV Carpenters Union #600 and Fearless Fire Co. Survivors: Grandson, Christopher M. Widner of Mertztown and his mother Linda L. Widner of Whitehall; son, William F. Widner of Bath. Predeceased by daughter, Mary Ann Widner; and son, Ronald L. Widner, along with his siblings. Services: Viewing will be 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2013 in the Gilbert Funeral Home, 444 Pershing Blvd., Whitehall, PA 18052 located one block south of the Fullerton Ave. exit of Route 22, followed by graveside services with Military Honors at 10 a.m. in Holy Saviour Cemetery Section 7 at 2609 Linden St., Bethlehem 18017. Contributions: Are suggested to The Lutheran Home at Topton, 1 S. Home Ave., Topton, PA 19562.
