Zachi Telesha Obituary

Zachi Josiah Telesha
Zachi Josiah Telesha went to meet his #1 SUPERHERO, Jesus, on Monday, April 29, 2013, on the dawn on his Half Birthday. Born on October 29, 2000, Zachi was a sixth grade Honor Roll student at Trexler Middle School who refused to let his cancer, osteosarcoma, define his life. Though diagnosed at the age of seven, Zachi was able to accomplish great things in his 12 and half years of life, and did so with a smile. While we are heartbroken over the loss of our boy, Zachi is now free from pain and will no longer struggle with his limitations. On Monday, he ran to the one who saved him, restored his mind, and healed his spirit, the Lord Jesus Christ. Zachi was particularly proud of his recent accomplishment of becoming a published author. Rodale Publishing and McKinley Elementary partnered with Zachi last spring, and turned his dream of being a writer into a reality. Through their collaboration, Zachi created and wrote the graphic novel, In Zachis own words My superheroes are based on the struggles that can happen to anybody. Theres a bright side to every dark side--just like every superhero has a good side and a dark side. To fulfill his desire to Hero Up and help other local families that have a child facing cancer, Zachi arranged for all proceeds of his book to go to Angel 34 Foundation, a local organization that supports children with cancer. Angel 34 will also be heading up a HERO UP PROJECT in Zachis honor, to encourage others to follow Zachis ministry that Little things can make a big difference. Zachi knew this to be true in his own life; over the last four years many wonderful people in his community HEROed Up on his behalf to make his dreams and visions, both big and small, a reality. Zachis family is eternally grateful to the amazing support community in the Lehigh Valley and to the following organizations: Angel 34 Foundation, Dream Come True, Make A Wish, The Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley, Pediatric Specialty Care Center of Lehigh Valley Health Network and our second family on the Pediatric Floor, Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia, Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia, Allentown School District, Epic Church, United Way, Teen Works, Sacred Heart Hospice, Lehigh Valley Children and Youth, Diakon and Camp Compass. Each of these groups aided in making life for Zachi a great adventure, one not defined by the difficulties of life, but a vehicle that allowed our young man to shine. Survivors: Zachi resided with his adoptive parents, Marc and Susan Telesha; as well as his four siblings, Xavier, Jayden, Maggie, and Soren Telesha. He also leaves behind six grandparents; six additional siblings, Justin, Jonathan, Josh, Adam, Mark, and Jair; as well as numerous other loving family members. Services: Zachis celebration service will be held on Saturday, May 4, at 4:30 p.m., at Life Church, 1401 E. Cedar St., Allentown, PA 18109. Arrangements entrusted to the Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made on Zachis Hero Up Website, http://heroup.us, where there are links for the purchases of his book, donations to the family, or to The Telesha College Fund for Zachis four siblings. To honor Zachi, let us all Hero Up and be an instrument of change.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Zachi's family and friends. I had the wonderful privilege of teaching Zachi. As his student teacher, he taught me a lot more than I could have ever taught him. He always found a way to put a smile on my face. He was such a mature young man and had an incredible outlook on life. Rest easy buddy! I'll see you again one day!

I had the privelege to teach Zachi in 2012 while I was a building sub at McKinley Elementary. I will never forget his incredible amount of inner strength and inner peace. I will also never forget his desire to educate his peers about his disease. He answered all their questions with such grace; even the potentially offensive, "Is it contagious?" type questions. Zachi carried himself in such a mature manner with no fear, as he knew he was being held in God's hands. His life was a testament to the glory of God.

Susie, Marc, Xavier, Jayden, Maggie, and Soren~ My thoughts and prayers are with you all. He was a great young man and an inspiration to us all. Living life to his fullest everyday... that is the lesson I will take from him.

I found this poem that fits so perfectly for your trying time.

God saw you getting tired
A cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around you
And whispered, "Come with Me."

With tearful eyes we watched you
And saw you fade away.
Although we loved you dearly
We could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating
Your tender hands at rest.
God took you home to prove to us
He only takes the best.~Unknown

What a beautiful, spirited boy. I feel honored to have met him and to have been able to talk to him. I could have talked to him all day! So full of life and so full of humor. What a gift he was to the world. Roey Ebert (we did the easter egg paintings that day that he designed for his family :))

Zachi was a remarkable child & may his memory serve as a role-model and beacon to all children in the district. It breaks my heart to hear and see the sadness in your hearts. God has blessed all of you in Zachi's family. I know his passing will leave a hole as large as his legacy. He was a remarkable young man who will be missed. RIP Zachi.

We only knew of Zachi through John Annoni and his wife Annette, but we couldn't help to be impressed by his courage and compassion.
Zachi, you wrote a comic book about a super hero. Well, not all heroes wear capes and fight crime. Sometimes they're 12 years-old, wear glasses and fight more important battles against stronger villains.
Rest In Peace, gallant one. God has selected you for his work. May we all "Hero Up."

I only knew of Zachi through John Annoni and his wife Annette, but I was impressed by his courage and compassion.
Zachi, you wrote a comic book about a superhero and I think he was based on your own life. Heroes don't necessarily wear capes and fight bad guys; sometimes they're 12 years-old with glasses and fight more important battles. Rest in peace gallant one, God has called you to be with him. May we all "Hero Up."

I have never been touched in so many different ways by one person. It was just happenstance, or perhaps divine intervention that I was brought in to the mosaic, known as Zachi. I can't imagine the pain you all must feel and I can't fathom the amount of joy that he brought into all of your lives! God blessed us all with Zachi!
