KATHY BEAN Obituary

KATHY SUE BEAN Swansboro - Kathy Sue (Redtfeldt) Bean, 71, passed away Monday, February 12, 2024 at Onslow Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. She was born October 22, 1952 in Emmett, ID a daughter of the late Robert and Esther (Thomas) Redtfeldt. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, February 25, 2024 at 2:00pm EST in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home-Swansboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Services will be live streamed at http://www.youtube.com/@brickcapitalvideo9709 for out of state family and friends to participate in the celebration of her life. Kathy married Terry Bean and became a mother to Terry's son Michael who she loved as her own. Kathy welcomed her daughter Michelle on her 28th birthday in 1980. Kathy worked at Boise Cascade in both Horseshoe Bend and Cascade for a total of 29 years as an office manager. Kathy grew up on a dairy farm in Emmett Idaho. She played the accordion as a young girl and had fond memories of the pet goose and skunk they had on the farm. Kathy was active in high school and was on the drill team, was an artist, and a member of the yearbook staff. She took some evening business courses at Boise College in her early adulthood. She was very active walking, riding bikes, snowmobiling, water skiing, hunting, gardening, and swimming. Kathy was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 1985 which had a huge impact on the activities she could participate in. She enjoyed reading, crafting, and still managed to garden, and loved her children and grandchildren well, despite MS. Kathy lived at The Cottages of Swansboro for the last six years, a non-traditional assisted living that felt like home, and a place where she was able to host her grandchildren for sleepovers. She was loved by so many housemates and staff. Kathy loved to play bingo, go out to eat with housemates, listen to the various music performances, watch the ducks and koi fish in the ponds, and be wheeled around the property to observe the various plants, flowers, and trees. Grandma Kathy was easy to love and quick to crack a joke. She was also known to drop an occasional curse word catching most by surprise and lead to her granddaughters playfully scolding her. She is survived by daughter, Michelle Richmond (Matthew) of Stella; stepson, Michael Bean (Julie) of Troy, ID; grandchildren, Jessica, Beth (Tov), Anthony (Ellen), Kaylee, and Adalynn; great grandchildren, Alora and Amalia; sister, Linda Redtfeldt of Nampa, ID; and brother, Larry Redtfeldt of Emmett, ID. She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Redtfeldt. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Kathy Bean Memorial Fund which will be used to fund a handicap accessible covered deck at The Cottages of Swansboro duck pond, at Ever Loved Online condolences may be made to jonesfh.org.
