Annie Mae Briggs Allison, age 81, of the Greenlee Community, made that wonderful cross over to her Heavenly home on Friday, January 08, 2021 at Autumn Care of Marion. Born in Yancey County, North Carolina on February 12, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Rev. David Briggs and Viola Styles Briggs.

Annie, who was very creative, enjoyed sewing, photography and working in her vegetable garden and canning. She was known to do wood working and making furniture, including her own kitchen cabinets. She was an amazing and wonderful lifetime cook and was known for her cherry cobbler. For 32 years she had worked in the cafeteria at McDowell High School where she proudly prepared and served many meals to students; and for 11 years drove a school bus. Annie was of the Freewill Baptist faith and was a Sunday school teacher and vacation bible school director.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Carl E. Allison; her twin daughters, Crystal Anne Allison of Candler, North Carolina and Cheryl Anne Allison of Marion, North Carolina; one sister, Mary Briggs Nunnally of Marion, North Carolina; and two brothers, Matthew Briggs (Clara) of Old Fort, North Carolina and Charles Monroe Briggs (Barbara) of Marion, North Carolina. Annie is also survived by four grandchildren, Kellen Lindsay of Candler, North Carolina, Darren Jones of Stockton, California, Michael Jones of Rocky Mount, North Carolina and Dylan Jones of Spring Hope, North Carolina; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Annie's wishes, a private inurnment will be held at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
