Bruce Robinson Obituary

Bruce Robinson OLD FORT Bruce Alan Robinson, 51, of the Greenlee community, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at his residence. Bruce was born on Feb. 24, 1960 in Spartanburg, S.C. to the late Ray Robinson and Maxine Souther Robinson. He grew up in Erwin, Tenn. but ultimately moved to McDowell County where he has lived most of his adult life. For many years he has been involved in the trucking industry in various capacities achieving the position of Transportation Broker with Meat Commodities, Inc. out of Asheville. Bruce was a man of many talents and interests, especially outdoor pursuits such as fishing and hiking. His family and friends will remember him for his personal attributes, however, not the least of which was his undying love and devotion to the ones he cared most for. He will be remembered for his humor, compassion and understanding. He could always be counted on as a shoulder to lean on in difficult times and as a generous and self-sacrificing friend. Bruce was a devoted husband, father and brother with a warm and comforting countenance that will be held dearly in remembrance by his family, especially his girls, who he loved very much. Bruce leaves behind his wife of 19 years, Tina McCraw Robinson of the home; two daughters, Ashley Robinson Turner and her husband Kelvin of Simpsonville, S.C. and Olivia Brooke Robinson of the home; his brother, Jim Robinson and his partner Wil Kelley of Celo; and his faithful companion, his dog Oreo. A service in celebration of his life will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011 at 11 a.m. in Westmoreland Chapel with Dr. Jack Sammons officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family at PO Box 247, Marion, NC 28752. I remember the first time Bruce and I met. He had a great sense of humor and was always smiling it seemed. I can honestly say that I never recall any harsh words he had to say about anyone. He always seemed to have a positive twist on any given situation, regardless of the trials involved. His parents trained him well, and I'm sure his children will benefit from his teachings also. I had the pleasure of having his Brother, Jim, as a teacher during my college years. I'm sure that their parents are very proud of them both...Bruce was a kindred spirit, and we hit it off as friends immediately. I consider Bruce my Brother in Christ and look forward to seeing him again one fine day. Rest in peace my Brother...
