Dennis "Ray" Wheeler, 40, of Old Fort, passed away on January 1, 2025, at Mission Hospital.
Ray was born on September 12, 1984 in Buncombe County to Gayle Pittman and the late Jim Wheeler. He has lived most of his life in Old Fort and McDowell County, and he was employed with Top Dog Kennel where he was known as the "Dog Whisperer".
In addition to his Dad, he is preceded in death by his brother, Timmy Harrison.
Along with his mother, those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 26 years, April Wheeler; daughters, Halie Wheeler and husband, Collin of Charleston, SC and Alyson Wheeler of Old Fort; and brothers, Michael, Daniel and four other siblings.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
