Jack Brooks Obituary

Jack Brooks, age 82, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2007 at his residence. A native of Swain County, he was born December 23, 1924 to the late Fred Brooks and Dora Laney Brooks. Mr. Brooks was a charter member of Nix Creek Free Will Baptist Church, a beloved husband, father and grandfather and was retired from Henredon Furniture Company. In addition to his mother and father, a sister, Lessie Watts, preceded him in death. Mr. Brooks leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 62 years, Ida Aldridge Brooks of the home; six children: Brenda Jenkins of Robbinsville, Gail Baker of Valdese, Ronnie Brooks of Marion, Wilma Harris of Old Fort, Paul Brooks and Earl Brooks, both of Marion; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Nix Creek Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Onley Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today, June 4, 2007 at Westmoreland Funeral Home. Interment will be in Nix Creek Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to American Parkinson's Disease Association, 60 Bay Street, Staten Island, NY 10301. Westmoreland Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
