Jerry Ray Farr, 77, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at his home.
He was born in McDowell County, on August 5, 1944, to the late Kelly Robert Farr and Dollie Patterson Farr.
Jerry retired from Henredon Furniture after 39 years. He was an avid reader of western novels and also enjoyed working in his garden. A loving husband, father, brother, and "pawpaw," Jerry was a family man who will be truly missed by all that knew him. Jerry had a quiet strength and was caring, positive, and kindhearted toward everyone he met. He was wholly devoted to his wife and family and was the family superman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Warren Farr, Von Farr, Donald Farr, and Billy Farr; a sister, Frankie Elliott; and three brothers-in-law, Bob Burleson, Walter McPeeters, and Gary Elliott.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Martha Farr; daughter, Angela Thomas (Steve); son, Kevin Farr (Julie); two sisters, Sybil Williams (Mickey) and Glenda Burleson; four brothers, Kelly Farr (Barbara), Mike Farr (Janice), Pat Farr, and James Farr; two sisters-in-law, Crystal McPeeters and Lorene Farr; six grandchildren, Nathan Farr (Caitlin), Danielle Thomas (Gilberto), Caitlyn Farr (Miguel), Talya Thomas (Brandon), Victoria Buchanan, and Sydney Buchanan; a great-grandson, Abel Farr; one great-granddaughter on the way, Addison Mae Farr; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service, with the Revs. Danny Forbes and Richard Merritt officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow at North Cove Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Cove Baptist Church, 13985 Hwy 221 N., Marion NC 28752.
