Joseph "Joe" Harold Eckerd

August 15, 1937 - March 23, 2024

Joseph "Joe" Harold Eckerd, 86, of Greensboro, NC returned to his heavenly home on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

Joe was born to the late Vernon and Bernice Eckerd in Marion, NC on August 15, 1937. He was a lifelong member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, an Eagle Scout, and a member of the high school marching band. Joe graduated from Marion High School in 1955 before attending North Carolina State University where he received his degree in chemical engineering in 1959.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Pat; his sons, David (Monique) Eckerd and Paul (Robin) Eckerd; his daughter, Rebecca (Chuck) Page; his brother John (Barbara) Eckerd; his grandchildren, Hannah (Ken), Sarah (Evan), Naomi, Bethany (Travis), Anna, Caleb (Braeley), Sean, and Rowan; his great granddaughter, Liza, and soon to be born, great grandson; his nephew, Morgan (Shawnda); and his great nieces, Drew, Bryn, and Sage. He also leaves behind his devoted neighbors, Mike and Susan Blankenship.

Joe was an avid woodworker, who shared his talent with his friends, family, and his church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, listening to music, watching his St Louis Cardinals, and volunteering at the local elementary school as a math tutor.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 310 S Tremont Dr, Greensboro, NC 27403.
