After years of searching, the family of Joseph Mark Loftis finally has closure. Joe passed away Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020, in Old Fort.
The son of Joseph and Christine Martin Loftis of Marion, he was born in Bell County, Texas, Oct. 24, 1979.
Joe loved to tinker with different things and loved to figure out just how they worked. He enjoyed many things in life, especially his family. Known as a traveler, Joe was known to always want to try new things and see new places. He regularly attended the First Free Will Baptist Church of Marion and was loved deeply by his friends and family.
Joe was preceded in death by his brother, T.J. Loftis, who passed away in 2016; and his father, Teddy Joe Loftis, who passed away in December of 2020.
In addition to his grandparents, Joseph and Christine, who raised him, left to cherish his memory are his mother, Adelisa Davis Loftis (Brian Taylor); two sisters, Crystal Ann Loftis (Jeremiah Murray, Virginia Lee Loftis (Frank Barlowe); and three brothers, James Loftis, Michael Loftis (Trudy), Tim Loftis (Janie). He also leaves behind numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Joe's life will be held Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, at 3 p.m., at the First Free Will Baptist Church of Marion, with Pastor Brian Bird Officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church, one hour prior to the service. A private graveside service followed by entombment will occur at McDowell Memorial Park.
Flowers are accepted and appreciated, however those wishing to make memorial donations in Joe's memory are asked to consider the First Free Will Baptist Church of Marion, 965 Baldwin Ave., Marion, NC 28752.
