KATHERINE TRINDAL Katherine E. Trindal, 73, of Pittsburg, Kansas, died at 4:53 a.m., Friday, July 25, 2025 in Mercy Hospital in Pittsburg. Katherine was born January 7, 1952 in Chanute, Kansas, a daughter of John Jack and Jean (Geyer) Groves. She grew up in Chanute and graduated from McPherson High School in McPherson, Kansas. She worked as a dispatcher for the McPherson Police Department from 1981 until moving to Parsons, Kansas in 1991. She attended Labette Community College in Parsons before graduating from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. Katherine worked for the Parsons Ambulance Service for 3 years and as a paralegal for the Labette County District Attorney in Parsons before retiring in 2012. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Chanute and later at the First Presbyterian Church in Parsons. Katherine was a member of the Order of the Rainbow for girls in McPherson and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapters in McPherson and Chanute. Survivors are a son, Hal Trindal, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Girard, Kansas ; her daughter, Suzie Hastings, and her husband, Levi, of Pittsburg; her grandchildren, Katie Hastings, and her partner, Josh Caswell, MaKayla Hastings, Serena Trindal, Conner Hastings, Rachel Norris, and her husband, Dalton, Andrew Trindal and Vyctoria Trindal; her great-grandchildren, Easton Levi, Ember Kay, and Zarrian Gunter; her brothers, Gene Groves, and his partner, Kathleen Miller, of McPherson and Michael Groves, and his wife, Maria, of Ballston Spa, New York; her sisters, LeeAnn Groves of Hutchinson, Kansas and Bobby Ray of Oswego, Kansas. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 31, 2025 at the Bronson Cemetery in Bronson, Kansas with Pastor Rick Prideaux officiating. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard where friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association and these may be left at the service or the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
