NANCY NORRIE Obituary

NANCY LUCILLE (STUDER/AKERS) NORRIE Nancy Lucille (Studer/Akers) Norrie, 81, passed away peacefully February 14, 2023, at Paramount Community Living & Rehab in Newton, KS, after battling Alzheimer's disease. Born June 30, 1941 on a farm just south of Sabetha, KS, Nancy enjoyed school and excelled in music. She was proud to earn the honor of 1st chair clarinet. After high school, Nancy attended business school in Topeka, KS. She went on to become a working wife and mother in McPherson, KS, spending many years as a bookkeeper at Crabb's Town & Country. She loved being a choir member of the First United Methodist Church and supporting her children through school and 4-H activities. Later in life, Nancy developed a passion for collectible dolls, calling them Nancy's Neighborhood, which was fueled by the Cabbage Patch craze and by her motto "shop till you drop". Nancy is survived by daughter Sara Studer, San Antonio, TX and former husband Raymond Studer, Horton, KS. as well as nieces, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Nancy is proceded in death by son Steven Studer, former husband Eldon Akers, parents Mildred (Line) & Glen Norrie as well as sisters Jeanie Scoby and Gaynell (Hackler) Fangman. Fulfilling Nancy's request, her body was cremated after a brain donation was made to The Biggs Institute for Alzheimer's and Neurodegenerative Diseases. Her ashes will be scattered near one of her most dearly loved locations. In lieu of a memorial service, it is asked that friends and family perform a random act of kindness in celebration of Nancy's life. If so inclined, donations would be appreciated at https://www.alz.org. Arrangements are by Affordable Cremations Plus, Wichita, Ks.
