VELDA LINSCHEID

VELDA LINSCHEID Velda Louise Linscheid, age 76, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away Friday November 29, 2024, at her home. Velda was born in Gunnison, Colorado on April 8, 1948, the daughter of William Arthur and Marian Louise (Clark) Hicks. Velda attended Gunnison grade school and graduated from Gunnison High School in 1966. She then attended Western State University. Over the years, Velda worked as an insurance billing clerk for Lindsborg and McPherson Hospitals, and for an ENT in Salina. She enjoyed gardening, antiquing, writing stories for McPherson Sentinel, collecting tea pots and sewing machines, canning, bee-hiving, animals and doing puzzles. She devoted her time to her son Steven and his special needs. Velda also enjoyed her adventures with her granddaughter, Lyric and spending time with her friends and family. Velda was united in marriage to Phil Linscheid on June 7, 1969 in Gunnison. The young couple established their first home in McPherson and they were blessed with the birth of three children, Michael, Angela and Steven. Phil and Velda shared 55 years of marriage. She is survived by her husband, Phil of McPherson, Kansas; children, Michael Linscheid, of Dallas, Texas, Angela Linscheid, of Wichita, Kansas, and Steven Linscheid, of McPherson; granddaughter, Lyric Linscheid; sister, Kay Query and family from Arkansas; niece, Desma Hurley and family from Arkansas, and her best friend and dog, Missy Lou. Velda was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marian Hicks; and nephews, Bryan and Patrick Query. Family will greet friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel with Chaplain John Hull officiating. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.
