Carolyn Alexander Obituary

Carolyn 'Lyn' Elizabeth Nehrbas Alexander, 89, of Acworth, peacefully passed 2/19/25 following a stroke. Born in Garden City, NY, Lyn had fond memories of family summers at Lido Beach, special time with grandparents who resided within walking distance, co-ed dancing school events and attending St. Mary's High School. Especially held dear was her time at Cornell University where she was a proud sorority sister of Kappa Delta and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. Lyn treasured her lifelong friendships with several of her sorority sisters. Over the years, she worked as an elementary school teacher, receptionist and aqua aerobics instructor. Sustaining friendships were made from her employment at TRC and the YMCA in GA and when residing in Hilton Head and Marietta. Fitness was important to Lyn and she prioritized her health through exercise and healthy eating. Lyn loved to walk, and she would incorporate long, enjoyable walks wherever she lived or visited. In addition to NY, she resided in many regions where she made numerous memories: TX, VA, OH, Australia, SC and GA. Her many travels included Europe, North America and Oceania. Lyn is survived by four children and eight grandchildren. If desired, donations can be made to The Salvation Army which supported Lyn's father during his deployment in WWI.
