Drayton Davis Fowler

Drayton Davis Fowler, 82, of Marietta, passed away at Tranquility Hospice on August 17, 2025. Drayton was born in 1942 to James 'Mac' Fowler and Elleen Davis Fowler of Marietta, GA. He is preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers, Kip and Larry, and his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Golden Fowler.

Drayton is survived by his three children: daughter Kimberly Parente (John) of Grafton, MA and their children Michael, Austin and Evan; daughter Karen Payne of Marietta, GA and her children Jeremy and Amelia; son Davis Fowler of Kennesaw, GA and his two sisters: Starr Willingham of Marietta, GA and Shelly Robertson of Poquoson, VA.

Drayton graduated from Marietta High School. He attended and graduated from Presbyterian College in 1964. Drayton married his everlasting love, Elizabeth, in 1966. They moved to LaGrange, GA in 1971 where they raised their children. Drayton worked for Milliken Textiles as a controller for 32 years. He was active in St. Mark's Episcopal Church and Habitat for Humanity. Drayton enjoyed spending time outdoors, vacationing in St. Simons with his wife, fishing, Georgia Bulldog football and being the forever helper.

Drayton will be remembered for being a southern gentleman. One of the greatest gifts that he gave to his children and grandchildren was setting the example of true graciousness, patience and timeliness.

A graveside service celebrating Drayton's life will be held at St. James Episcopal Cemetery on Saturday, August 23 at 11am followed by a reception in the parish hall at St. James Church.
