Patricia Harris Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Pitt Harris passed away on September 28, 2025, at her residence after a lengthy illness.

Patricia Ann Patience Pitt was born March 19, 1944, in Ayr, Scotland to Frances Ferguson McLarty Pitt and James Richard Pitt during his service in the U.S. Air Force. At age two, Pat and her mother came to the United States aboard the USS Saturnia, arriving to the Port of New York in 1946.

Pat was raised in Springfield, Tennessee and Birmingham, Alabama with her beloved younger brothers, Larry & James. She graduated from Hewitt-Trussville High School and then worked as a secretary in downtown Birmingham.

She married Robert Alexander Harris on June 11, 1965, and together they raised three sons, Rob, Rick, and Ryan. Robert's career with International Harvester brought cross-country moves for their family including to St. Charles, IL, Dallas, TX, and Portland, OR before settling in Stone Mountain in 1981. In the early 1980s, Pat co-founded

Decorative Expressions with her husband Robert, which they have continued for decades as a family fine art business.

Pat's faith in Jesus was the center of her life, and it was unwavering regardless of the trials that she faced during her life. Pat was a faithful member of Rehoboth Baptist Church, and she ministered to many people throughout the years. She enjoyed being an active member of Sunday School classes and bible study groups and the friends she met through them.

Pat enjoyed playing tennis and bridge with friends and neighbors. She was a devoted mom to her three boys and was always there to cheer them on in every sport and activity. She later became an adoring Mimi to her three granddaughters, Avery, Ainsley, and Hadley, with whom she enjoyed playing dress up and board games, baking, and outings to Stone Mountain Park.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her son Rick Harris, brother James Pitt, and brother-in-law, Ray Bellew.

Pat is survived by her husband, Robert; son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Amy (Cantrell) Harris of Johns Creek; son, Ryan Harris of Stone Mountain; granddaughters, Avery, Ainsley and Hadley Harris; brother and sister-in-law, Larry & Missy Pitt of Birmingham, AL; sister-in-law, Jane Bellew of Hueytown, AL; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kay & Victor Shumate of Birmingham, AL; cousin, Peggy Jones of Decatur, AL; many beloved nieces, nephews and special friends.

A private family funeral and burial will be held. Pat's family wants to thank Capstone Hospice for their compassionate palliative and hospice care of Pat.
