He was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Dorothy Murphy, brothers Marvin and Troy Murphy. Surviving are wife Joan Murphy, daughter Vickie Murphy-Norris grandson Brandon Norris, grandson Bryan Norris, son Maurice Ray Murphy, son Gregory Lee Murphy, sister Opal Cook (Don), brother Ronnie Murphy (Elizabeth).
Ray Murphy was a respected legacy business entrepreneur who dedicated his career to nurturing local enterprise, leaving a lasting impression.
Ray Murphy will be remembered for the deep connections he fostered and the positive impact he made throughout his life. His dedication to community, leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew him.
A funeral service will be held 2 pm Sunday, March 29, 2026 in the chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna. The family will receive friends from 12 -2 pm. Interment will follow in Cheatham Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna is in charge of arrangements. www.carmichaelcares.com 770-435-4467
