Richard Edwards

Mr. Richard Edwards, age 85 of Marietta, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025. He attended Marietta and Rabun Gap-Nacoochee schools. He was a proud firefighter and served his community for 14 years. After 30 years, he retired as a Cobb County Government employee. Mr. Edwards enjoyed starting and completing different projects, reading books and the newspaper, and he became a historian for local and worldwide events. He was a man of little words and often stayed behind the scenes, but he was rich in wisdom and love.

Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Dolley Edwards, daughter Kelly Edwards Kelley, brothers Gerald, Corky, and James Edwards. He is survived by his loving wife Freida Edwards of 63 years, son David Edwards, brother Glenn Edwards, and several nieces and nephews.

On Friday, January 31, 2025, the family will receive friends at 10 a.m. at Milford Baptist Church. The memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. and is welcome to all who were blessed in knowing Mr. Edwards. In lieu of flowers, those who wish, may contribute to Milford Baptist Church.
