Robert Meyer Obituary

Robert Thomas (Bob) Meyer of Brunswick, Georgia passed away peacefully at home on August 9th, 2025. Bob was born in Brunswick on November 10th, 1930 to Charles and Robina Meyer. He graduated Glynn Academy, and attended Georgia Institute of Technology, in Atlanta, receiving both his bachelor's and master's degrees in aerospace engineering.

He served in the United States Navy as an aviator, flying the Pacific Rim during active duty, continuing into the Reserves and IRR. After years of service, he retired with the rank of Commander.

Bob's love of aviation continued professionally as he worked for NASA, General Dynamics, and ultimately working for Lockheed Martin for 40 years, retiring at age 72 in 2002, as a Specialist in Stability and Flight Control.

The youngest of five children, he spent his youth in coastal south Georgia enjoying the ocean, baseball, serving as an Eagle Scout, and participating with the Church.

Faith continued to be a very important part of his life. After moving to Marietta, he became deeply involved with St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where he worked in young adult education as well as serving as a lector, MUST ministries, and numerous volunteer programs.

Bob will be defined however, by his love of community, friends, and family. Whether it be Church, golf, fishing, or travel, these were simply excuses to spend time with those he loved. He is survived by his wife, Bett, daughter Linda Parker (Sam), and his sons David (Beth), Paul (Kim) and Robbie Meyer, Linda Oxford (Charles), and Lisa King (Wade). And possibly his greatest passions, his twelve grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. His biggest smiles always came from any reason to celebrate with the family for birthdays, holidays or any special occasion. He will be missed and loved eternally, and he will be remembered as an inspiration to the many lives he touched, and for a long life of service.

Please join us to celebrate his life with a Memorial Mass on Monday August 18th, 10:00am at St. Williams Catholic Church, 2300 Frederica Rd., St. Simons Island, followed by a reception at the St. Simon's Island Casino.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of to St. Vincent de Paul of St. Joseph's Church, 87 Lacy Street, Marietta Ga. 30064.
