Rose Boemio Obituary

Rose Curasi Boemio, age 91 of Marietta, GA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 16, 2025.

She was born October 21, 1933 in the Bronx, NY, to Amelia and Basilio Curasi. She was one of three children, sister to Mary and Felix, both of whom predeceased her.

Her loving husband, Anthony "Tony" Boemio, of 62 years, predeceased her in 2023. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Anthony and Kristina of Laurel, MD; daughter Teresa of Canton, GA; daughter and son-in-law Tina and Paul of Marietta; beloved grandchildren Christian (Felicia), Eric and Emma; nieces Felicia (Bill) Ruggiero and Rosemary (Steve) Granwehr, and nephew John (Lisa) Stella, and their children.

After graduating high school early, Rose worked for Metropolitan Life ("Mother Met") as a stenographer until the birth of her first child. Later, she worked as a library supervisor at Stony Brook University until her retirement.

A chance meeting in their late teens brought Rose and Tony together. Rose patiently waited for Tony to complete his service in the Navy and then waited again, somewhat impatiently, for him to return from a short stint in the south.

Rose was Tony's music; Tony was Rose's poet.

Rose was a lifelong avid reader, cook and Yankees fan. She was Catholic, and truly lived her faith. She never met a stranger, and treated everyone like family. A member of Transfiguration Catholic Church in Marietta since 2001, Rose enjoyed parish social life in the Friendship Circle and volunteered in several ministries.

She had a deep love for, and devotion to, all her family, the pride and joy of her life. Rose had a charming, vibrant energy that drew people in. Cherished for her quick wit and playful sense of humor, she was a trusted friend and neighbor.

A private family service and burial will take place at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Tony.

Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to the American Cancer Society and St. Vincent de Paul Georgia.
