William Deakins Obituary
Bill was born May 15, 1951, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, to the late Forrest Richard Deakins and Ruby Irene Toothman Deakins. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda Carroll Deakins; his mother Ruby Irene Toothman Deakins; children, Valerie (Dieter) Graf & Grafin von Mainberg, Daniel (Stephanie) Hammond; Grandchildren, Rachel Hammond, Damien Hammond and Xavier Hammond; Sister, Brenda Deakins Farrell; Brother, Keith (Theresa) Deakins; as well as well as brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bill graduated from Osborne High School in Marietta and earned a Bachelor of Science - Mechanical Engineering Technology degree from Southern Tech. He retired as an Outside Plant Engineer after 39 years of working for Southern Bell /BellSouth/AT&T.
He was a long term member and worked diligently for the Boy Scouts of America as a Scoutmaster, Cubmaster and many other positions. He truly exemplified the values and morals for which the Scouts stand.
In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to BSA Troop 435, East Cobb United Methodist Church, 2325 Roswell Road, Marietta, GA 30062.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2022 at 11:00am in the chapel of HM Patterson and Son Canton Hill, 1157 Old Canton Rd, Marietta, Georgia 30068.

Bill was a great inspiration! I never was able to go far in Scouting, but because of Bill my son and I enjoyed time together and his encouragement and guidance in Scouting. I went places and did things I could never have imagined. He was great support when we organized and took the troop to Yellowstone National Park. Because of that trip, I added a thirty-one day camping trip to seventeen National Parks across the country, my two adult children talk about it even today. God bless you and your family! Thanks for the memories!

Mr Deakins was quite an incredible man, he kept up with the times but stayed true to his morals. I am thankful to have been able to complete my scouting career with help from Bill and to have been able to share some times with him as well. He will be missed dearly.
