Alex R. Alva
October 8, 1939-October 5, 2011
Alex R. Alva of Merced passed away October 5, 2011, at the age of 71. He was born in Tolleson, AZ on October 8, 1939, to Elizardo and Bridget Alva. Alex studied Horticulture for 2 years in college. He later enlisted in the United States Army. He married the love of his life, Mary Alaniz in 1966. They were married for 45 years.
Alex was a supportive father of two boys, Alex and Craig. When the boys were young he coached their baseball team. Alex served a term as the Little League President. He was always involved in any sport the boys participated in.
Alex is preceded in death by his parents, Elizardo and Bridget Alva, his sister Linda Soza and two brothers Tony and Frank Alva.
Alex is survived by his loving wife Mary, his two sons Alex and his wife Liz, Craig and his wife Linda and his four grandchildren Justin, Derek, Colten and Torin all of Madera, California. He will be missed by two brothers Benny and Joe Alva, and four sisters; Hortencia Lopez, Margaret Parra, Sally Nieto and Oralia Gutierrez
Alex will be receiving full military honors at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 30253 West McCabe Road, Gustine, CA on Thursday October 13, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow.
