Billie Meuser Obituary

Billie "LaNell" Bryson Meuser
-
Billie "LaNell" Bryson Meuser was born in Clovis, New Mexico May 5, 1935, the oldest of four children of Dessie and Will Ed Bryson. She arrived in Merced at a young age with her parents, who moved to be closer to her mother's family.
She was an excellent student, exhibiting warmth and intelligence. She attended Merced Union High School, excelling at speech and debate. As a member of the Speech and Debate Team, she was listed as one of 48 top speakers and debaters in the United States by the National Speech and Debate Association's Rostrum Magazine. She served as the first female student body president of Merced High School.
She married the love of her life, Earl Meuser, in December 1953. They built a rich life which included their children Linda, Brian and Cindy. Both were children of poor, Oklahoma-born parents, and together they had determination and grit, lived frugally and worked hard to support their family.
In 1966, she took a job as a teller for Bank of America. This was the beginning of a 26 year career with the bank, where she later became a manager and oversaw loans for auto sales, working from offices in Merced, Modesto, and Fresno. She was a talented seamstress, and following her retirement in 1992, she followed her passion for crafting and sold her creations at craft shows in Northern California and Oregon.
She was a loving, non-judgmental, jovial spirit with a beautiful smile who opened her heart and home to all. She was loved by young and old and was an exceptional listener and conversationalist. She was devoted to her husband and family, and her heart held a special place for her eight, beloved grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She had a zest for life and was an avid reader and a volunteer for the Friends of the Merced County Library. Should you wish to make a donation in her memory, the family asks you consider the Friends of the Merced County Library, P.O. Box 2463, Merced, CA. 95344-0463.

Four years and not only my rock growing up was still my rock trying to grow up. I miss you daily and so many times I just wanted to chat. I miss my big sister.

My Dad, Al Baleme, and I want to express our sincere heartfelt condolences to LaNell's family. My dad was LaNell's neighbor for around 30 year, until he went to live in assisted living. He was saddened to hear of her passing. So, was I. I had talked to LaNell around 6 months ago, just to visit and she was, as always a joy to chat with. She will be dearly missed. We always enjoyed visiting at the neighborhood Christmas party at the Soares residence.

To my loving sister who I will miss until that time that we are together again. I love you for all you did for me and for anyone who needed help. For the 80 years that you bossed me. I know I was a pain wanting to always go with you and do whatever you were doing. May you be at peace now with loving family surrounding you. I love you my sister.

The Family of Bea Patterson sends their thoughts and prayers to the Meuser family. My hope is that our Moms are together in whatever after life they have created and are enjoying each other's company as the did for many decades.
