Carl was a wonderful friend, and we enjoyed a great time together in our grammar school days, with his siblings and our teacher, Elizabeth Hart. Enjoy heaven, with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Carl, where we will enjoy each other’s company once again! Your friend, Johnnie Upton

My dearest brother Carl, just letting you know opening day for baseball has come and gone. I will have to cheer for the Dodgers and your Giants now. I miss you so much Carl. I was fortunate to have known Carl @ Catheys Valley Elementary, in 4-H, and he was on our bus from Catheys Valley to Mariposa Jr. Hi & High School. He always said he was going to be President some day and many of his friends, including myself, thought he would make a great one. He was happy every day and always smiling. A tremendous gift was just to have known him. May all his family have the gift of Faith, the blessing of Hope, and the peace of GOD'S Love during this difficult time. Carl's memory will live on forever. Warmest thoughts and prayers for all of you.

You were fearless Uncle Carl. You were small physically but you were ten feet tall to me. You served valiantly in Vietnam and you were a true warrior...though people wouldn't know it when they met you. You treated everyone like a longtime friend. No more hurting, no more sickness. I know you are with your mom and dad now. I'm sure you were greeted by Fritz and two handsome young cowboys (Roger and John). Love you so much and we will see each other again.

Rest In Peace, childhood friend. I went to school with you at Catheys Valley grammar school in the 1950s, and was extremely saddened to hear of your passing. May God keep you in his loving care, and bless your brothers and sisters with good health and happiness.
