Debbie Alexander Morimoto
March 11, 1962 - February 27, 2023
Merced, California - Debra Alexander Morimoto passed away on February 27, 2023, at the age of 60, after a 5-year battle against cancer. She endured chemotherapy and other treatments for those five years. She would often bring cookies and other goodies for the nurses, doctors and patients. She often exhibited a heart of gold.
Debbie earned her Bachelor's degree at CSU San Bernardino. She received her Master's degree at BYU. She taught geography at Merced Community College for 33 years. During her professorship Debbie met her husband, Gordon Morimoto, and they married in January of 1999. They were married in Livingston, California. In June of 2001, they had their daughter, Julie Morimoto,
In Debbie's teens she was a licensed lifeguard and taught Mommy-n-Me swim lessons including babies 6 months old! She was a girl scout and leader for over 50 years, taking girls around the world, including China, Israel and India.
Debbie was also a dedicated crafter and during her life made thousands of original Christmas cards and ornaments to show her love for her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon, and her daughter Julie, as well as her parents Don Alexander and Dyann Williams, her siblings; Dan Alexander, Dixie Lynch and Cherylyn Beasley, as well as many other beloved family members.
Debbie's celebration of life will be held at 6 pm in the pavilion behind the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 1080 E. Yosemite Ave. Merced, CA 95340 on Friday, June 16, 2023. The dress code is informal. Please come as you are. All are welcome.

We have fond memories of Debbie helping Miss Denisa at DSD. We cherish the photos she took at recitals and dance events. There were 1000´s she took! What a legacy! I have many of them in our photo albums of our granddaughters. So sorry to hear of Debbie´s passing. She fought the good fight and will be missed by so many!

I will always remember how kind and open she was to all she met. She was an inspiration to me as she remained cheerful and full of life even though she had challenging days. Thanks for sharing Julie with me in Awana and as my student. We enjoyed her hospitality at Julie´s graduation party. She will be alive in our hearts forever.
