Donald Flatt Obituary

Donald Howard Flatt
September 8, 1942 - October 29, 2012
Don Flatt was born in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from Brooklyn Tech High School. He then moved to Ohio to play basketball for Ohio State University from 1960 to 1964. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering.
He married Jane Hardesty in 1963 having met her on a blind date in 1961. They were married for 49 fun years.  He raised his family in Visalia for 17 years where they made a commitment to follow Christ in 1971 and were very active in the community and church.
He fought a long 30-year battle with Parkinson's Disease and later with dementia. His faith in Christ was the cornerstone of his life and strength, along with the love and encouragement of his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Jane and boys Tim and Dan. Tim's wife Mandy and two daughters, Kaylyn and Ruby live in Denver, Colorado. Dan's family, wife Susan and son Colby and daughter Kendall live in Atwater. Don is also survived by his brother Charlie and family who also live in Denver.
Services will take place on Friday November 2 at the Merced First Baptist Church at 500 Buena Vista Drive and M Street at 4pm with a reception following at 5pm.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to one of Don's favorite charities: The Parkinson's Institute (www.thepi.org), The Parkinson's Disease Foundation (www.pdf.org) or Alzheimer's Disease Research (www.ahaf.org/alzheimers).
He was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.
