Doris Toste Obituary

Doris Toste

May 4, 1941 - March 1, 2025

Jamestown, Indiana - Doris Ruth Toste, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on May 4, 1941, in Terra Bella, California, to Hans and Ruth Heinze, Doris grew up alongside her two sisters, Helen and Pat, forming bonds that lasted a lifetime.

Doris met the love of her life, John Toste, while they both worked together at KellerGlass Company in Merced. Their love story took a defining turn when John joined the Army and was stationed in Texas. Determined to be together, Doris packed her belongings and drove states away to marry him, beginning a lifelong adventure filled with love, devotion, and family. Happily married for 61 years, John and Doris shared a love that was truly extraordinary- a bond that many only dream of finding.

Together, they raised three wonderful children, Kimberly Toste-Lawrence, Teresa Toste-Morris, and John (Brieann) Toste, who blessed them with seven grandchildren: Lexy (Spencer) Vieira, Anthony (Kayla) Lawrence, Molley (Austin) Biery, Andrew Morris, Mallory Lawrence, Brynlynne Toste, and Brileigh Toste. Her family continued to grow with six great-grandchildren: Kennison Lawrence, River Vieira, Rovene Biery, Everly Vieira, Kohen Lawrence, and Rhea Biery, each of whom she adored beyond measure.

Doris spent most of her life in Merced, California, before relocating to Jamestown, Indiana, in 2007, where she embraced her new community with open arms. A dedicated and passionate real estate agent, Doris treated her clients like family, always ensuring they felt supported and valued. Even after retiring, she couldn't sit still and found joy working part-time at Dollar General in Jamestown, where her warm smile and kind heart brightened the days of everyone she met.

She found happiness in the simple joys of lifespending time at her cherished cabin in Mariposa, riding in the dune buggy as a proud member of the Merced Runabouts, tending to her beautiful roses and, above all, being present for her family. Doris was the rock of her family, always putting others before herself and never missing a single important moment in the lives of those she loved.

Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Doris left an everlasting mark on the hearts of all who knew her, and her legacy of love and selflessness will continue to live on through her family and the countless lives she touched.

A celebration of life will be held in her honor at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA, where family and loved ones will gather for a private service to share memories and honor a life so beautifully lived.
