Atwater, California- Dorthia Fleischmann was born on April 29, 1935 in Baton Rouge Louisiana to George Moore and Veola Rogers. She died peacefully at her home in Atwater CA on November 29, 2022.
Dorthia attended Longfellow Jr. High and graduated El Cerrito High School in Richmond CA in 1954; she then attended East Los Angeles Jr. College and graduated with a LVN degree in 1956. Dorthia married Robert Moore in 1953 and produced two children, Richard and Rodney Moore. They divorced in 1959; in 1967 she married Thomas Gathers and divorced in 1972. She then began working at the US Post Office in Los Angles while going to school to earn her RN Degree in 1973. This is where she met and married her husband Robert Fleischmann in 1974. They blended their family to include 6 children. Dorthia and her husband retired at age 62 to begin their travels to six continents before they moved to Stevenson, CA to open a board and care home until Robert's illness in 2005. They then moved to Turlock, CA until 2019 when they moved to Atwater, CA to be near their son and daughter-in-law. Dorthia enjoyed sewing, making dolls, knitting, and reading. She always had a smile on her face.
Dorthia is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert Fleischmann, her son Richard Moore (Terry) her son Rodney Moore , Step daughters Luiza Obrien (Richard), Stephanie Lester (Jim), Marie Frana (John) along with numerous grand children, great grand children, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother Veola Rogers, her father George Moore, and her brothers George Moore Jr., Percy Huggins, Oliver Moore, Fred Moore, and a sister Queenie Jones along with her step son Steven Fleischmann, his wife Erin Moran and Grandson Geoff Bohannan.
At sea Services will be held on April 29, 2023 with scattering of ashes around Angel Island at the Berkeley Marina in Berkeley CA at 11:30 AM. Family and friends are invited to attend. Please RSVP to Richard Moore by April 15, 2023, as there is limited seating. [email protected] or by telephone.
