Gary Johnson

1956 - 2025

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away on the morning of June 17, 2025, in Little Rock AR. He was born on January 15, 1956 to the late Stanley Johnson and Laverne Roen Johnson.

Gary grew up in Merced CA and attended grammar school at Washington Elementary school. Gary graduated from Merced High school then continued his education at Merced Jr College and University of Stanislaus to achieve his bachelor's degree in business administration.

He grew up on the family ranch in Merced, where he learned the value of hard work by harvesting grain, driving tractors, and harvesters. As an adult Gary continued to work in the farming industry.

Gary was known for his love of hunting. As an avid hunter we could find Gary up in the Sierra's hunting big game or at the family ranch hunting doves, ducks and pheasants. He was always ready to tell a story about his hunting adventures, or just about ranch life from his early years.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years Patti, his son Erik & daughter-in-law Stephanie, his beloved grandchildren, Stanley James, Melissa Rose and Torvi Ruth Johnson.

He also leaves behind his brother and best friend Craig and his wife Maureen. Nephew Roen (Macie) and niece, his "Valley Quail" Faith Johnson. Also, brother Roger Johnson and sister Ellen Ratzlaff.

Gary is predeceased by his parents Stanley and Laverne, son Aaron Matthew Johnson and daughter Melissa Ann Johnson.

Celebration of life will be held on Sept 13 at the Snelling Community Recreation Building from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. located at 3325 E Merced Falls Rd, Snelling, CA 95369.
