OCT. 8, 1937 - JAN. 9, 2016
George A. Purgason "Ronnie", 78, of Los Banos passed away peacefully in his home after a fight with lung cancer.
He was born on October 8, 1937 in Rockingham County, North Carolina.  He married Doris Myers Hyatt in Pasquotank, North Carolina on July 3, 1961, George was a war veteran from the Vietnam War where he was with the United States Navy and served 20 years.  Thereafter, he worked as a power plant operator for 20 years while he lived in Los Banos.
George married Doris in 1961, and the couple had three children: Karen Lynn Pargason, John Raleigh Purgason of Modesto, California and Beverly Ann Purgason of Oregon.  George took in his 6 grandchildren which he raised as his own.
George Purgason is survived by his son and two daughters; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Myers Hyatt Purgason; his brothers: John Raleigh Purgaso (JR) and Jimmy Purgason; his sisters: Dawn Purgason, Virginia Ray, and Mildred (Mickie) Purgason; parents: John Raleigh Purgason and Kate Lawrence.
George will be remembered as always being optimistic.  He was a loving father, husband, and grandfather, and had an amazing sense of humor.  He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. 
At George's request, no services will be held.  Arrangements are under the direction of Whitehurst Funeral Chapel~Los Banos.
