Brian Sutton Obituary

Brian Patterson Sutton
September 22, 1946 - February 1, 2022
Modesto, California - Brian P. Sutton, 75, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Brian was born in Albany, New York to proud parents William and Genevieve Sutton and was the youngest of 3 children. He has been a resident of Modesto for the past 74 years.
Brian leaves behind his daughter Sheri Evanson, his son Kelly Sutton and his sister Patricia Sutton. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Tyler (Crystel) Climer, Brandon Sutton, Joshua (Jessica) Climer, Sara Sutton, Jordan Evanson, Connor Sutton, as well as several great grandchildren, adopted grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceeded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Linda K. Sutton, his father William H. Sutton Jr., mother Genevieve P. Sutton and brother Wayne G. Sutton.
Brian attended Modesto High School and Modesto Junior College, where he graduated with an Associate in Arts Degree. He was a proud USMC Vietnam War Veteran, US Postal Service Letter Carrier, California Fish and Game officer and Stanislaus County Animal Control Officer. He also coached his son's little league team for several years.
Brian loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, swimming and long road trips, but mostly, he loved his family. He was the type of man who would get out of bed in the middle of the night to go help a loved one in need and has done so on several occasions. He was well known in the community and friend to many. Brian was honest, loyal, hard working and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held by his family in March. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the children's or animal charity of your choosing.

Brian was a good man with a kind/open heart for anyone in need. Had many a hunting trip with him, his brother and dad. He loved life. R.I.P my friend.

I so wish I had a bigger part in his life. Unfortunately distance has played a central role in that; but family is thicker than water and that bond can not be broken. I pray for the family and the friends that have lost a great person. May the peace of God that passes all understanding, comfort you in this time of loss. Love and prayers...

I will always remember when Brian babysat me in Albany and tried to make grilled cheese sandwiches, at my request, in Mom's new Teflon pan. The black outline of the burned bread was on that pan for its duration (and, knowing the Pattersons, that pan wasn't thrown out until the '80s). Every single time it came out I thought of Brian...and I won't forget how at Gwyn's wedding he heard we bought some strawberries and brought us a fresh box from his neighbor's field. He was very thoughtful. Hope he's now enjoying grilled cheese and berries - and everything else.
